Today has been one of those nice, relaxing days spent cleaning the house and getting organized and packed for our trip. We're going to Cancun next weekend but we have such a busy week ahead of us that we have to get it all done this weekend. I put together a "cat manual" for my dear mother who has selflessly agreed to move in and take care of the cats, dogs, rabbits, ducks and... what else is there, oh yes, HOUSE... for us while we're away for two weeks. I'm looking forward to being away even though I will miss all my furbabies... I need some time to relax and work on my webpage and photos, etc that I've been collecting but have had no time to sort through. I love getting up super early in the morning when I'm on vacation with the family - hours before anyone else - so that I can have some time to think and organize things. It's going to be the perfect time to get caught up on everything. Ok, that's it for now... I'll write more later in the week, but if not, then for sure from Mexico.... Adios Amigos!!!!!!!!!!!

I've not had a chance to update our website in SO long! I've been busy, busy, busy working full time and bringing new babies home, and setting up the cattery. To top it off, we also own a small family run organic blueberry farm and in the midst of setting up my cattery and bringing all the new babies, blueberry season has fallen upon us. As a result, there has been no time for anything but the basics, feeding and caring for the cats, my family, and working every day. I took a few moments today to snap some photos of Phoenix and the girls though and will upload them now to the gallery. To update, we are now have a total of four cats in our breeding program: Phoenix, Pharrah, and sisters Skye and Luna. I'm so excited to get started on this new endeavor next spring and enjoy the fruits of all this labour...! I'm dying to see what these beautiful new members of my family bring into our lives in the way of tiny, gorgeous Bengal babes. This time next year we will be experiencing the joy of furry new lives and working hard at finding perfect families to fit each of our babies. Check back often for updates... I will try my best for a weekly photo blog to update everyone on the status of our cattery! Well, Phoenix has been with us now for about a month! We've had him at his first cat show (Garden City Cat Club in Sidney, BC) which he did very well at - coming in first 2x in colour and division and getting 4th Best Kitten in two rings in the specialty and shorthair categories.
Tomorrow we're driving up to Vernon to pick up Pharrah...at last!!! I can hardly wait. The temperature is supposed to get above 40 degrees celcius in the interior so we won't be stopping much to enjoy the scenery. We'll just get up there, pick her up, crank the air conditioning, and head back home. I hope Phoenix and Leo love her... I want her to feel welcome right away. At least it's a long weekend so I can have Monday to stay home and introduce her and keep everyone calm while she gets used to her new home. Last night we went and saw our very newest baby. She'll come home in two weeks! I still don't have a name picked out for her! I can't 100% decide - so far my choices are: Scarlette, Stella, or Coco Chanel. I'm leaning toward the second two the most. She's very pretty and dainty - like a little "lady". She has very dark spots and rosettes with a warm, rich background colour. "Coco" as a nickname would suit her really well, but I'm not ready to commit to it yet - lol. Thoughts?? Phoenix is having so much fun!! As you can see in the photo, he loves to climb up super high. The closer he is to the ceiling, the happier he is. He is SO loveable and cuddly - and inquisitive. He's the perfect combination of liveliness and cuddliness ;) On June 23rd we are making another trip up to Vernon to bring home Pharrah - she'll be 14 weeks then. I can't wait for her to meet Phoenix. I hope they love each other right from the start - I'm sure they will. Later in the summer we'll be bringing home girl #2 - Presley. I've just added some photos of her to my Future Queen page as well... she's a fluffy little ball of fur still and soooo sweet. Go take a look at her! Oh, forgot to mention that Leo has TOTALLY come around now and is in love with Phoenix - they are best buds now and run around the house together, tearing it up! I'm so happy they get along... Phoenix is home!! I've been busy for the past couple of days settling him in. The dogs absolutely love him, but for some reason our one year old Bengal, Leo is NOT impressed at all. He is angry and about 7 times Phoenix's size, so for now we have brought an enclosure into the living room so that he can still be part of the family but be safe when Leo is in the house. He seems ok with it and I'm sure with time Leo will learn to love (or at least accept!) this new little bundle of energy that has taken over our house.
The first night Phoenix was tired and slept peacefully in his cat tree. Last night he was SUPER playful and ran aaallll over the house exploring and chasing the dogs up and down the stairs. Today is he resting in between bouts of playfulness. His eating is still a bit sketchy - he hasn't eaten a whole lot since he got here because of all of the excitement but I'm hoping as the week progresses and he becomes more familiar with his surroundings he will fall into a routine. We are in Vernon as I type this - at our hotel, just waiting to go to the breeder's house for a visit and to pick up our new baby at last. We stopped in late last night for a peek at him before bed - he's sooo amazing and I can't wait to get him home safe and sound with us tonight to meet the other family members. I hope he loves Leo and the dogs - I'm sure it'll be a big adjustment for him to leave his litter mates and meet a host of new, curious friends sniffing at him and following him around the house!
I will have more updates and photos later on today! Happy Mother's Day everyone... A new week is beginning and very soon we will be going up to Vernon to get Phoenix. I can't believe the day is nearly here. So far we have the cat room all ready, an outdoor secured play area is ready for him to explore and enjoy the outdoors with us, and we have stocked up on the food the breeder is currently feeding him. All that's left to do is, BRING HIM HOME! The breeder of our little girl, Pharrah, posted some new pictures of her for us tonight as well. She's still so teeny tiny, but already I'm beginning to see her nice, clear markings . She's one month old now so we won't be getting her for 8 more weeks. Thankfully we'll have Phoenix to occupy our time while we wait! We'll be posting more pictures next weekend - stay tuned for updates. The countdown is on!! 10 more days until we go up to Vernon and bring home our new baby, Phoenix, to live with us!! We're so excited, we're dying. This is the beginning of a whole new venture for us - keep checking back for photo and video updates to this blog as we get Phoenix home and settled and then bring home our new girl, Pharrah, just a few weeks after.
