THE PET WAIT LIST
**Please note that the Waitlist Deposit is $500 and the Kitten Reservation Deposit is $1000. These Deposits are considered part-payments toward your kitten purchase and are non-refundable should you forfeit them during the process. They will remain on deposit however for the future purchase of a kitten if you choose to reactivate them within 12 months of forfeiture. They may also be transferred to a friend or family member as long as that person submits our Kitten Questionnaire and is accepted.**
**If you are on our Wait List and we consistently (2X in a row) do not receive any response to our communication efforts, we will place you on our "Dormant" list below, so that our new waitlisters aren't deterred by the length of the waitlist. Kitten waitlist and Breeder Evaluation Process
At Jewelspride Bengals, our waitlist and evaluation processes are carefully designed to ensure that every kitten is matched with the right home or breeder program. Here’s how it works:

We understand that this process might seem complex to new waitlist members. Rest assured, we’re here to guide you every step of the way and ensure everything is handled transparently and fairly. If you have additional questions, don’t hesitate to reach out!
1. Breeder Evaluation ProcessWe occasionally reserve certain kittens for potential breeding programs. This process takes time and involves several important steps:
- Notification of Breeders: We inform breeders actively searching for kittens about new kittens available for evaluation. Currently, the breeders on our list are located in Europe, so communication can take time.
- Evaluation Period: If a breeder expresses interest, the kitten is placed under evaluation for several weeks. During this time, both we and the breeder assess the kitten’s development, health, and characteristics.
- Genetic Testing: Samples are sent to the UC Davis Genetics Laboratory in California for analysis. This step ensures the kitten meets the breeder’s specific genetic requirements.
- Decision and Deposit: If the kitten meets the breeder’s needs, they place a deposit to secure their interest. If the kitten isn’t the right fit, we offer it to the Pet Waitlist instead.
2. Pet Waitlist Process For families on our pet waitlist, here’s how the selection process unfolds:
- Kitten Announcement: When kittens are 2-4 weeks old and have their eyes open, we send an email to everyone on the waitlist. This email includes photos and details of the available kittens.
- Expression of Interest: Waitlist members are asked to:
- Confirm if they’re interested in choosing a kitten during this round.
- Share their preferred kittens in order of preference (if applicable).
- Response Time: We allow 24-48 hours for responses, depending on the timing (e.g., holidays or summer weekends).
- Selection Process:
- We start with the first active person who responded and proceed down the list.
- Each person selects their preferred kitten and pays a deposit to reserve it. The kitten is then marked as “Reserved.”
- Sequential Selection: This process continues over a few days until all active responders have made their choices. It’s ideal to offer multiple kittens at once, as it increases the likelihood of people choosing their originally desired kitten instead of opting for a different one due to limited options.
- Health and Safety: For the health and safety of the kittens, no visits are permitted until the kittens have been vaccinated. Instead, kittens are chosen via multiple photos, videos, and conversations with us. This process works very well and ensures the safety and well-being of the kittens.
- Preferences shared during the announcement are not binding. They help us gauge interest but often change during the actual selection process.
- No one can skip ahead of others on the waitlist unless higher-priority individuals explicitly pass on the kittens being offered in writing.
We understand that this process might seem complex to new waitlist members. Rest assured, we’re here to guide you every step of the way and ensure everything is handled transparently and fairly. If you have additional questions, don’t hesitate to reach out!
