PET KITTENS - Prices of individual kittens will be posted with each kitten's photo on our Current Kittens page. Our pet kittens are generally priced at $3000, however this can fluctuate depending on the quality of the kitten (based on variables such as colour, pattern, and structure of the cat - whether or not it is being purchased as a pet or show cat). Kittens demonstrating exceptional qualities which render the kitten show or breed quality in our opinion will be offered as "top" petsand their prices may exceed the price range set out above (typically priced between $3,000 - $6,000, depending on the kitten). This price will include show rights (not BREED rights), whether or not you intend to show your kitten. ** Alternatively, some kittens/cats may be priced lower due to rehoming or other situations. This will be disclosed in the description of the particular kitten/cat. *ALL PET KITTENS ARE NEUTERED AND SPAYED BEFORE LEAVING US*
*Kittens showing exceptional qualities which render the kitten "show" or "breed" quality in our opinion may also be occassionally offered as "TOP PETS". These kittens may exceed the price range set out above in some cases (by up to $800) *All prices are in Canadian funds* *Tax is added to the price of each kitten. We are a Provincially Registered business (BN: 82321 7799 BT 0001), and as such, are required to collect and pay tax on the sale of each kitten.
BREEDING KITTENS are not spayed or neutered (with breeding rights attached) and sold to approved registered catteries only. The estimated price is anywhere from $5,000 - $8,000 Cdn ($3700 - $5900 USD), depending on the kitten. Kittens will be evaluated until 6 weeks of age before giving a preliminary price range and final price will be negotiated on an individual basis with each breeder. If you are looking for a breeding kitten, please proceed to our Breeder Application and we will respond to your enquiry.
*These price ranges are estimates only - the price may be higher or lower in the shown range, depending on that kitten's evaluation at 6 weeks by us. In the case of exceptional kittens that would be breeders but are being sold as pets, the price may exceed the pet price range.
* female kittens are priced slightly higher than males due to higher vet costs.
** MULTI-KITTEN DISCOUNT ** * we offer a $100 discount per kitten when kittens are adopted in pairs or multiples. $100 discount also applies if you are adopting a second one at a later date - to the price of the second kitten being purchased only.
PURCHASING PROCEDURE: Only the most suitable homes will be considered for our kittens and cats. We are not trying to be nosey with our questions - they are solely intended for information gathering purposes so that we can ensure we are placing our cats in the best homes possible. We are always open to discussing your answers with you, should they not meet our standards, and working with you to help you better understand how you can make your home the perfect living environment for one of our cats. Upon application approval, you will be put on our waiting list with your $500 deposit to hold your spot, and contacted when we have an available kitten. At that time, we will request a non-refundable reservation deposit of $1000 for pets and $1500 for show/breeder quality cats (see below for discussion of our current policy regarding selling breeding cats). We accept deposits by cash, e- transfer, credit card, money order, or PayPal.
Deposits and payments are non-refundable. This helps us limit our relationships to seriously interested buyers only. Please note that buyers with deposits submitted are not required to purchase a kitten from the next available litter - we are more than happy to wait for you to discover the Jewelspride kitten that best suits your preference, no matter how long that takes. Kittens are placed in the order by which the deposit was received by us.
The balance of the purchase price of the kitten, including shipping (if applicable) is due in full by the time the kitten is 10 weeks old, so that we can complete all the vet work and arrange travel if necessary. We have implemented a "graduated payment" procedure for our deposits now to make it simpler. This is clearly outlined in the deposit agreement, but basically it works like this: The first deposit ($500) is the Wait List Deposit - it saves your place on the list. The second installment ($1000) is the Kitten Reservation Deposit - it is due when you choose and commit to your particular kitten. At 10 weeks the balance of what we have priced your kitten at is due and both deposits will be applied against it.
Please understand that Jewelspride Bengals reserves the right to change our mind regarding the sale of any of our kittens at any time after the deposit has been made should we feel that the prospective buyer is not an appropriate match for a particular kitten, or that we would like to retain the kitten for our own (or another qualified) breeding program. If a deposit has already been paid it will be immediately refunded and our decision explained to you thoroughly. You will, of course, have the option of adopting another kitten of equal quality should you want us to retain your deposit and keep you on our waiting list. If our decision to not sell our kitten to you is due to us feeling that you are an inappropriate fit for one of our kittens, our reasons will be explained to you and we will do our best to help you rectify the situation so that we feel more comfortable selling to you. If it's not possible to come to an agreement, we retain the right to keep our kitten and return your deposit. The bottom line is, no kitten will be sold by us to any home that we do not 100% approve of.
All of our cats come from top quality and championship lines and will be spayed and neutered before leaving our cattery at 14 weeks of age, without exception. They will also leave with the appropriate health certificate/guarantee, and all age appropriate vaccinations.
Matching you with the right kitten It is a well known fact that Bengal cats cost more than the average house cat. This is the reason why it is so important to think carefully about your decision to invest in such a unique house pet. If you have read this far, you are most likely a person who is set on purchasing one of the most interesting, intelligent, high energy, exciting cats a person can live with in their very own home. If you are passionate about owning a distinctive, hybrid cat - in effect, a lovable "house leopard" - to snuggle with you and go for walks on a leash for the next 15-20 years of your life, you are making the right choice and you will never once regret your investment. The next step is to pick the right Bengal for you. This decision should always be based on personality and temperament first, and colouring and markings second. All Bengals are beautiful - some just adhere more closely to the standards set by the show community and are therefor considered more "valuable". They ALL make wonderful, loving and exotic looking pets, regardless of their defined value.
How we evaluate your kitten The categories you will need to consider are set out in accordance with the Bengal breed standards defined by The International Cat Association: (TICA). Some kittens will be sold as pet quality only, others for breeding purposes and finally, the ones that meet the greatest number of criteria for the breed will be categorized as breeder and show quality cats. Each category comes with a different price tag essentially. We will be there to help guide you on your purchase, based on an in depth discussion of your preferences and your budget.
Breeder/show quality cats may be sold as "top" pets (neutered and spayed) but the price will be higher for such a cat than the price of a "pet quality" cat. At the time the kittens are born, we will do our best to define each kitten by its quality, but anyone who knows Bengals knows that they are, in effect, the butterflies of the cat world! A kitten can start off so muted in contrast and "fuzzy" that you can barely make out the spots or rosettes and may think it qualifies as a "pet only" quality kitten. That same kitten (much like the caterpillar turning into a gorgeous, patterned butterfly) can bloom into the most contrasted, well structured kitten imaginable within the span of three months. The "fuzzies" as the stage from 6-12 weeks is called is a distinctive feature of the Bengal, as it is with other wild cats. It's a protective feature which helps hide the beautiful and recognizable leopard markings from predators. This is why pricing is such an imprecise and unpredictable discussion at the time of the birth of the kitten. You will need to understand that it will be a process for us to gradually pick out what we think will best suit your needs and budget and then discuss the finalization of the adoption later when quality can be more accurately determined - usually around 5 or 6 weeks. This may mean that the diamond in the rough kitten you originally chose turns out to be outside of your budget once he or she is correctly evaluated. Or a kitten that seemed to be a show/breeder quality kitten at the start, but didn't transform quite as spectacularly as we had guessed, may be offered for a lower price. The choice is always yours and we will help guide you along the way.
All of our cats are TICA registered and come from championship Canadian, European and American lineages. The pedigrees of each of our dams and sires is posted on our Studs and Queens pages. Your kitten will be sent home to you with its TICA registration slip which you will use to register your kitten online once you have decided on a name. You may order your 3 or 5 generation pedigree from TICA at the same time. Your kitten will be micro-chipped, vaccinated, dewormed and spayed or neutered by the time it goes home with you as well. In all, about $400 - $500 worth of basic veterinary cost alone will have gone into your kitten before you take him or her home. In addition to this, we will send your kitten home with 6 weeks' worth of free pet insurance through PetSecure.
Visits with the kittens A first visit after vaccinations at the age of about nine weeks (if we consider appropriate, always taking into account the best interest of the kittens first) will allow you to visit the cattery, to see our stud and dams. We never want to compromise the safety of the kittens and this is why we work so hard to provide weekly photos and videos of the kittens for our clients so that you may choose their favourite kitten based on its appearance and personality which clearly shows through on the videos. Visits are allowed at our discretion and on a case by case basis. We are also happy to show you our cattery before you make your decision to submit a Kitten Application - by appointment only.
Once kittens are born, they will be photographed as soon as reasonably possible and displayed on our website and Facebook page with the following labels:
Available: this means you are free to enquire about this kitten. It will be available for you to put a deposit on (or purchase if it is ready to leave). The first person submitting a deposit, receives first choice of Available kittens.
Reserved for the Waitlist: this means that the waitlist people (those who have previously submitted a deposit to secure a spot in line to choose their favourite kitten) have first choice of the kitten. If no one on the wait list chooses that kitten, it will be relabelled as "Available".
On Hold: this means that someone is sending us a deposit. Should the deposit not arrive or the buyer changes their mind, the kitten will be relabelled "Available".
Under Evaluation: this means we are holding the kitten for evaluation for our program or that of a breeder.
Reserved: this means a deposit has been made and the kitten chosen by its owner. It is no longer available.
Keeper: this means the kitten is staying on at Jewelspride for our program but may still become available in the future should we retire him or her!
