New Exotic Cat Regulations in British ColumbiA
As of May 1, 2026, British Columbia has introduced new regulations restricting the breeding, sale, and ownership of true exotic (non-domestic) cat species. This includes wild cats such as servals, caracals, and other non-domesticated animals. These changes are focused on protecting animal welfare, public safety, and local ecosystems, as wild species have highly specialized needs that cannot be met in a typical home environment.
What This Means for Our Kittens
Domestic breeds, including Bengals, are not affected by this legislation. Bengal cats are recognized as a domestic breed and have been carefully developed over generations to thrive as affectionate, social, and well-adjusted companions in family homes.
At Jewelspride Bengals, we remain fully compliant with all provincial regulations and continue to responsibly breed healthy, well-socialized Bengal kittens raised in a home environment.

🌟Program Update & Partnership Structure🌟
As part of the continued evolution of my breeding program, I am now working in a structured mentorship with Tasha and Debbie of our sister program, Mystiquepride Bengals. I have been mentoring Tasha and Debbie within my program for the past several years, and they share my philosophy, ethics, and dedication to producing healthy, well-socialized Bengals. Both are experienced veterinary technicians who work closely with our veterinary team, providing an exceptional level of knowledge and hands-on care.
To support my family's current needs — as I am now caring full-time for my mother, who has advanced dementia — some of our queens reside and raise their litters in Tasha and Debbie’s home. This model ensures a calm and safe environment for my mother while preserving the home-raised, highly socialized foundation that is essential to our cats’ development.
All breeding decisions, pairings, health protocols, pedigrees, and placement standards remain under my direction. This partnership allows me to uphold the same level of quality, integrity, and personal involvement that has defined Jewelspride Bengals for 15 years, while ensuring each queen and every kitten receives the individualized attention, enrichment, and nurturing environment that are core to our program.

Heart Scans are underway for our breeding cats!
* We scan our cats annually for hypertrophic-cardiomyopathy (HCM). Last year's scans were in November and all our breeding cats screened were clear. This year's scans have begun and all results will be posted with each cat's bio as they become available. We are so grateful to Dr. Mark Harmon of the Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital for taking such good care of our cats and helping us ensure that we are only including the very healthiest cats in our breeding program. A portion of the proceeds from our Kitten Adoptions and pet supply sales goes to the BC SPCA each month to help support their work in rescuing and caring for animals in need. We strive to educate people like yourself about the importance of NOT SUPPORTING backyard breeding. A backyard breeder is a person who keeps a number of cats or dogs and either breeds them deliberately or lets them freely breed, with no plan in place, or understanding of health, genetics, or the breed standard for the animals they have. They are the single greatest cause of the cat and dog overpopulation crisis in this country and around the world. Often these operations come to the attention of the authorities and they are forced to release their animals to the care of agencies like the BC SPCA. These animals are often unsocialized and unhealthy, requiring more medical care than most shelters can afford and end up having to be euthanized. If you are visiting our site in search of a well planned, health guaranteed, and extremely well cared for, socialized pet, you have come to the right place. Continue to support purposeful, ethical breeding - our animals NEVER end up in a shelter. We guarantee it. We take any animal back that cannot be cared for - 100%. You will not find our cats in the shelters - we are not the cause of the overpopulation crisis. Unplanned, profit driven, backyard breeding is the cause and it can only be stopped when we stop supporting back yard breeders financially.
